They have been caught before, and have lived in their particular river or stream for an extended period of time. This means they are weary of certain things and they are very familiar with their surroundings.

To take your trout fishing' 'angling to the next level you need to be aware of both of these points, and begin to use them to your advantage. Let's begin with the trout's environment. When fishing' 'angling for trout you want to stay out of the trout's view as much as is imaginable. Remember, if you can see a trout, it can more than likely see you, and if larger trout can see you that are much less apt to bite your offering.

You also want to pay attention to where your shadow is being cast on sunny days. You never want to cast a shadow on the area that you're attempting to fish. This is a sure fire way to "spook" an area and not catch the larger trout. Another thing to keep in mind is the color of your clothing. You don't want to wear colors that will make you stand out.

I have always used four pound test Stren monofilament and have found that anything over six pound test is a big mistake when fishing' 'angling for trout.

The next thing to consider is the way in which your bait is being presented. I have found that worms are great trout bait and presenting them properly is of the utmost importance. When taking your trout fishing' 'angling to the next level balling a worm onto a hook simply won't cut the mustard. Natural presentation of worms is very important. Large trout want their meal to appear as it would in a natural situation. Gang hooks accomplish this task.
