Tips on beginning in Carp Fishing' 'Angling

Tips on beginning in Carp Fishing' 'Angling

Over the years the technology used in fishing' 'angling alone has become more and more advanced. Rods have improved with the introduction of carbon where originally they were made from slit cane and then glass fiber. When introducing carbon fiber the rods have become lighter an more responsive and as such today they are a joy to use enabling the fishing' 'angler to tell what the river or lake bottom consists of such as gravel, silt or weed.

Rods Rods come in a variety of test curves and depending what type of fishing' 'angling the fishing' 'angler is performing, what test curve he will require when selecting his rods. For carp fishing' 'angling the fishing' 'angler will need to choose between 2lb test curve and 3.5lb test curve with the later usually being associated with longer distance fishing' 'angling. There are many manufacturers of fishing' 'angling rods in the market place, however if getting started there are some fantastic rods by Fox that start around £50.00 which will give the fishing' 'angler a great starting tool for the job. Most carp fishing' 'anglers will use two main rods of the chosen test curve plus a rod of about 3.5lb to 4lb for a marker rod and a rod about 5lb test curve to use as a spod rod. The spod rod is used to cast a cage full of bait to the chosen spot where the fishing' 'angler is wishing to fish. The marker rod is set up with a very buoyant float that comes to the surface to give the angler a target to cast to both with the spod rod and the actual fishing' 'angling rods.

Fishing reels fishing reels again are usually the preference of the fishing' 'angler abut for general fishing' 'angling a fishing reel utilising the bait runner system is a great way to start fishing' 'angling as the bait runner can be turned on and the line becomes free running should the fishing' 'angler get a run from a taking fish without the worry that he will have his rod puller from the rod rest and into the lake. One such fishing reel would be the Shimano XTEA fishing reels. If the fishing' 'angler is looking for for distance casting reels the it is advised to buy the big pit style of fishing reel which has a more friendly shaped spool which will enable longer casts such as the Daiwa Entoh.

Bite Alarms: Over the years the technology used for bite alarms has increased and as such there are now some absolutely wonderful alarms on the market from the basic Rom Thompson alarms to the top of the range ones from both Fox and Delkim. Again individual preference is the fishing' 'anglers choice but a personal choice for the author is the Delkim TXI system that even incorporates an anti theft alarm should someone try and steal them on the bank.

Rod Rests: Something to bear in mind when choosing rod rest or rod pods is weight. Something that is the bugbear of all fishing' 'anglers is the amount of weight you will be carrying along the banks of the river or lake. Rod rests and pods come from the very cheap and nasty to costing over £300.00. The more you pay the better. Although only rests or pods, you should buy better quality as they could last a lifetime rather than bending or rusting the first time you use them.

Unhooking Mats: When you start carp fishing' 'angling always Acquire and use an unhooking mat that will keep you captures safe from damage that could result in laying them straight onto the bank. Manufacturers such as nash now make excellent unhooking mats that are both large enough to hold the largest carp in British waters but also thick enough that they feel like a bed. Which ever you choose make sure it is as big as you can get.

Glasses: If you are looking at fishing' 'angling seriously, you will need to invest in a good set of polarizing sunglasses. Most tackle manufacturers make a number of types of glasses, however the author would recommend getting sunglasses from a company that specializes in sunglasses as they can be tailored for your individual eyes should you be needing prescription ones and if not the glasses company will still have your eyes as there main focus unlike buying over the counter ones that are just manufactured in their thousands to meet demand.

Advice: All the best advice can be found on the internet and from dedicated fishing' 'angling shops. Fishing' 'angling shops generally are run by fishing' 'anglers for fishing' 'anglers and of course they have a vested interest in looking after you as as customer so that you will return and purchase more from them. However always shop around for the best bargains at a variety of shops.
